Outdoor Activities

Texas City enjoys the desirable weather that the Texas Gulf Coast offers.  Allowing our citizens and visitors to enjoy outdoor activities year round.  The City of Texas City is home to more than 40 parks totaling up to 1,000 acres, making the city a destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Galveston County.  The city’s most visited park is of course the Texas City Dike.  The dike is the longest man-made pier in the world, extending 5.3 miles into Galveston Bay.  It offers the comforts of a beach, recreational shore fishing areas, and of course several boat launches.  

Texas City’s newest sports-plex can be found at the 48 acre Carlos Garza Sports Complex.  This facility comes with baseball, softball, soccer, and football fields that are able to accommodate both youth and adult activities.  

If shooting sports is your forte, the City of Texas City operates a municipal shooting range.  This high quality facility offers rifle ranges from 25 to 100 yards, pistol ranges from three to 25 yards, two regulation skeet fields, one trap field, and one five stand field.  The range has been a destination for professional and recreational attendees. 

The Nessler Park Family Aquatic Center is an amazing aquatic venture for all ages to enjoy that features a lazy river, flume slides, cool water spa, children's play area, and much more. Parents can watch their children splash in the water from a comfortable lounge chair. The on-site concession are will ensure that you do not even need to leave the park to get a snack and a drink. 

The Bayou Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course featuring a driving range, 10,000 sqft practice putting green and the only 9-hole Family Pitch-N-Putt in Galveston County. The course was renovated in 2015 and features all new greens and layouts. 

Lago Mar, home of the 12-acre lagoon in Texas City infuses super-soaked activities across a mile-length of shoreline. The crystal clear lagoon is where Bay Area breezes caress you while you lounge on white sand beaches, swim in azure waters and play the day away. 

Houston Kiteboarding is one of the largest kiteboarding and hydrofoiling schools and retailers in the USA.  They offer lessons for nearly anything wind-powered and everything involving hydrofoils including, kite, wake, windsurf, and surfing hydrofoils as well as efoils.
