1. What is the Texas City Economic Development Corporation, and what do we do?

The Texas City Economic Development Corporation (TCEDC) is a non-profit corporation created for the purpose of promotion and development of new and expanding businesses within the City of Texas City. The TCEDC was established in April 1993 as a 4A Corporation, utilizing a ½ cent sales tax that was approved by the voters of Texas City. The administration of the corporation is vested in a board of directors and staff. The City of Texas City Commission appoints the board of directors. The TCEDC's operating and capital budgets are approved by the City of Texas City Commission as well.

2. Does the TCEDC offer incentives for new business or expansions?: Yes, a variety of economic development incentives can be offered to businesses that qualify. 3. What programs does the TCEDC offer for small business?: If you are planning on locating a business in the 6th Street Revitalization District, a variety of incentives are available to include: paint assistance, awning assistance, improved signage, and TCEDC owned buildings. 4. Does the City of Texas City have a Foreign Trade Zone, and what are the benefits?: Yes, the City of Texas City operates Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ Number 199). The Foreign Trade Zone Act was created to expedite and encourage foreign commerce in the United States. Merchandise of every description may be held in the zone without being subject to customs duties and other ad valorem taxes.
